Tour Isla Contoy (Parks and Adventure)
Location :  Isla Contoy from Cancun
30 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres

Looking for something different to do on your vacation? Want something unspoiled and uncommercialized? Want to see real nature...with no restraints or fences? A trip to the remote and uninhabited Island of Contoy should be your first choice!

Protected by the government of Mexico since 1961 as a National Park, Isla Contoy remains a natural habitat for abundant widelife, birds and aquatic wonders. Located approximately 30 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres where the turquoise waters of the Caribbean begin to meet the Gulf of Mexico, a natural eco system provides sanctuary for countless species of birds, marinelife, and plantlife on this small island only 8.5km in length. To maintain this balance visitors to the island are limited to a maximum of 200 per day and then, only with appoved guides. So this is truly an exclusive opportunity to enjoy the unspoiled reef area and untamed nature. Better than any man-made eco park!

Upon departing the Marina in the Hotel Zone of Cancun, you will be served a continental breakfast consisting of juice, fresh fruit, and a selection of sweet rolls and bread. Within the hour the boat arrives at the tip of the largest natural barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere where expert guides lead you on an unequalled snorkeling adventure. After approximately 45 minutes of experiencing the underwater magic of marine life in an unspoiled area of the reef, you complete the the short (approximately 10 minutes) trip to Contoy Island.

As you arrive at the small wooden dock in Imaxpoit Bay, you are greeted by manta rays gliding fearlessly among swimmers. At this point, you are free to explore the island with its lagoons and mangrove forests where about half of the 152 documented species of tropical marine birds call home. The others use the island as a migratory stop along their route from the north. You may also choose to visit the small interactive museum, climb to the top of the observation tower for a magnificient view, or simply enjoy the peaceful beach. Marine life (spiny lobster, grudge, snail and sardine, to mention a few of the species) is clearly visible beneath the crystalline waters surrounding Isla Contoy only a few feet from the island.

At approximtely 2:00p.m. a delicious lunch buffet (salad bar, fish, lasagna, chicken fajitas, and many side dishes) will be served on the beach, and remember that an open bar serving domestic brands is yours to enjoy during the entire tour. At 3:30 in the afternoon you begin your return trip back to the mainland arriving at the AquaTours Marina at approximtely 5:00p.m.
